Description of the vacancy: The Financial Reporting and Compliance team is based within the CFO team, responsible for supporting accurate reporting and supporting financial sustainability, based at our Avery Hill Campus. The CFO team is seeking to appoint a Finance Apprentice for 36 months with the possibility of the role becoming permanent following the end of the development scheme. As part of the scheme, the Finance Apprentice would also complete their ACCA accreditation. The role sits within a busy team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness for our financial reporting and supporting the delivery of the University’s strategy. As a Finance Apprentice, you will be expected to complete the learning and development requirements of the role which include training days, completing the ACCA, being mentored in year 1, and becoming an active member of the FRC team. As a trainee, you will be expected to utilise the support on offer to maximise the benefits to your professional development and you will be expected to deliver project work to develop your skills and competences in Financial Reporting and through completion of your studies. Following a 3-year development journey, it is anticipated that you will be considered a subject matter expert in this role. To support your career progression there will be a formal evaluation of your role and exam progression with an aligned grading every 12 months through the 36 month contract. Following the contract there will be an assessment to enable you to apply for the post on a permanent basis - see annual wage with performance assessments below for further details. The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in a supportive environment to develop the behaviours, knowledge and professional skills required of the role and the team. This is a professional, demanding role within a complex organisation with an ambitious strategic plan and agenda for change. The role holder will be expected to show flexibility in working arrangements, including working hours, to ensure that the Financial Reporting & Compliance team delivers the required level of service. The post holder will support the CFO team by assisting with the accuracy and completeness of the cash books for all bank accounts held by the University and its subsidiaries and the provision of timely and accurate financial records. Collating samples as requested by the University’s Auditors and assisting the Financial Accountant.

Apprentices will need to show they are competent in all the areas detailed in the standard when they take End Point Assessment.
